Sugar-free dirty sodas
How to make a dirty soda with zero-sugar soda, sugar-free syrup and lighter creams, and what to expect on taste.
The swap
Every recipe on this site lists a sugar-free swap. The rule: zero-sugar version of the base, sugar-free version of the syrup, same amounts.
| Regular | Swap | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Soda | Zero-sugar soda | Same amount |
| Syrup | Sugar-free syrup | Add ¼ oz extra if thin |
| Half & half | Coconut cream or less half & half | Coconut is near zero sugar |
| Cold foam | Heavy cream + sugar-free vanilla | Skip half & half for richer foam |
Cream choices
Half & half has about 1 g of sugar per ounce from milk. Unsweetened coconut cream has close to none. Avoid sweetened coffee creamers if you're cutting sugar.
Taste tips
Sugar-free syrups taste thinner. Add a little extra syrup, a big squeeze of lime, or both. Coconut and vanilla hold up best in sugar-free form.
